The Irish Standard
Saturday, 14 July 1900

         Tuesday morning, July 2, MRS. JOHN DELANEY, of
       Birch Cooley, departed this life at the age of 52
       years. Deceased, whose maiden name was SUSAN MAJOR,
       was of English parentage and was born in Indiana.
       When at the age of seven years her parents came
       west and settled in Dakota county, this state,
       where MISS SUSAN resided until her marriage to
       JOHN DELANEY in the year 1866. Two years after
       her marriage she accompanied her husband to Birch
       Cooley, where she has ever since resided on the
       same farm where the family first settled. Three
       daughters, MARY, LIZZIE and CAROLINE, were born
       to Mr. and Mrs. DELANEY. Two of them survive her.
       The funeral which was lergely attended by old
       settlers as well as many new ones, was held from
       St. John's church at this place, and the remains
       were interred in the Catholic cemetery, Rev.
       Father Vonderage officiating.
