Hundreds of large trees were uprooted and thrown against houses and crops, especially corn, were pounded to the ground and whipped by hail. Dr. FRANCIS ANTHONY, 74, of Marysville, Mo., fishing with ROBERT HERBST, Fargo, on Detroit Lake suffered lacerations from hail stones and shock. He was taken to a hospital here. GEORGE CAMPBELL and LESTER HULL, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., were thrown into the lake when their boat was upset but they clung to the craft and paddled to shore. Rainfall was estimated at two inches and hail laid crops in the immediate vicinity of Detroit Lakes to the ground and they were stripped by hail. Communications were disrupted and power lines were down. Volunteers were asked to help clear debris and set up an emergenc power line to St. Mary's hospital which was darkened. Physicians reported, however, that there were no emergency cases and no night operations pending. ICE HOUSES TOPPLED Several commercial ice houses were blown down. The ice house owned by the Fargo-Detroit company was blown into Detroit Lakes and one owned by the Fairmont creamery was blown a block away. Display windows in the business district were smashed and stocks damaged by rain. ==========================================================================
