Goodrich pub. 1905 - Hennepin Publishing Co., Minneapolis page 189 SANFORD BROADBENT (son of THOMAS BROADBENT) was born in South Walpole, Mass., April 18, 1835. He first worked in a sash and door factory in Southbridge, Mass. He enlisted July 11, 1862, in the Thirty-fourth Massachusetts Regiment. He was severely wounded at the battle of Newmarket, Va. He was taken prisoner and was confined in Andersonville for a number of months. After the war he lived in Jefferson county, New York, until 1869, when he came to Anoka Co., and purchased his farm in the town of Linwood a year later. ==========================================================================
