ISAAC COVERT, an old resident of the city, and for a number of years connected with the car shops of the Michigan Central Railroad. He was engaged in superintending the shipment of some cars on the dock, when a freight train, which backed down the track without warning, knocked him down and ran over him crushing his body in a horrible manner. The wheel passed over his side, from the thigh to the shoulder, separating the ribs from the breast-bone, and mangling the whole body in such a manner that hope at once became extinct, and he was removed with all speed to his residence on Columbia street, where he died within an hour and a half. He was conscious to the last, and bade his family farewell with firmness and resig- nation. He had many friends, and was very well known from his long residence in Detroit. ===========================================================================
