The kick of the horse was received full in the mouth and the concussion broke his jaw-bone in two places, knocking out one tooth, and causing the fractured bone to protrude through the flesh. The wagon-wheel ran over his chest and shoulder, and inflicted some serious bruises, but did not break any bones. One of the points of the horse-shoe penetrated the face and jaw, crushing a hole entirely through. The broken bones were not set until yesterday morning, when Dr. Axford performed the operation successfully. The patient will recover, but the healing will be slow and painful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Detroit Free Press Tuesday, 8 May 1860 Death of Officer CLANCY. - Deputy Sheriff CLANCY died very suddenly on Saturday night, in consequence or in- juries received from the kick of a vicious horse while in the act of arresting a disorderly person on the Campus Martius.
