         CAPT. NELSON WOODWORTH, who crossed the dark gulf the
       other day at Marine City, began his sailing on the lakes
       in 1833 on the schooner La Grange, and subsequently a 
       number of the finest boats between the upper and the
       lower lakes, his last command being the propeller
       Roanoke. His age was 75.
