ABRAM SCHRYVER, a man long and favorabliy known to the citizens of Port Huron and the traveling public, died at the Thompson House, in this city, on Saturday evening, January 27, at 7:30 p.m. after a long and pain- ful illness. MR. SCHRYVER was about 63 years of age, and had lived in Michigan since 1857. Before he came to this State he was engaged in various persuits in Dutchess Co., N.Y., where he was born and reared. At one time he was engaged in railroad building in Canada, and laid the first track between Toronto and Collingwood. Subsequently he came to this state, and was emplyed by the lat LEWIS BROCKWAY, under whose supervision he conducted the Brock- way House, in the village of Brockway. He afterwards con- trolled the stage line running from that place, and leased or purchased the hotel, and kept it until he came here in 1865. He then assumed charge of the hotel that formerly stood on the lot south of where the Huron House now stands, which he conducted about 2 years, when he leased the property known as the Thompson House, which he conducted up to the time of his death. MR. SCHRYVER was widely known in this section, and as a landlord was very popular while among his acquaintances he was deemed as a genial and whole-souled man. In politics he was a Democrat of the ****est stripe, and ****** in local politics quite extensively, holding the office of Street Commissioner at the time of his death. His funeral will take place from the house on Wednesday, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Mr. Stowe officiating. ===============================================================================
