Thursday, 10 April, 1884

         Although the death of MRS. ADELAIDE MINNIE, relict of
       JOSEPH P. MINNIE, has been anticipated for several days,
       her many friends will regret to learn that she passed
       away about 10 o'clock this morning at her late residence
       on Military street. Her death was caused by gangrene,
       and her suffering was intense. She remained conscious up
       to within twelve hours of her death.
       
         Deceased was a native of the city of Detroit, and her
       maiden name was ADELAIDE LA DUKE. She was married on May
       10, 1832, and came to Port Huron with her husband in 
       1836. They first resided in a log house on Water street,
       while MR. MINNIE was building one of the first frame
       dwellings erected here. They afterwared (sic) removed to
       Cottrellville, and then returned to Port Huron. Deceased
       has resided in the house in which she died for forty-two
       years. MR. MINNIE died on March 10, 1865. Nine children
       were born to them, and seven are now living, as follows:
       J. T. S. MINNIE, living in Washington Territory; LOUIS N.
       MINNIE, EDMUND MINNIE, RICHARD A. MINNIE, MRS. HORACE
       BAKER, MRS. S. W. ANDREWS and MRS. E. S. POST, of Port
       Huron. Twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grand
       children are still living.
       
         MRS. MINNIE was a devoted mother and seemed to be
       happier when surrounded by her family. She had a wide
       circle of friends, and was esteemed by all who knew her.
       
         The funeral services will be held at the Episcopal
       church at 2 o'clock p.m. Saturday.
