He was driving into town from his home three miles out, on the town line, with a load of his son's furniture, who was about to take up his residence in Algonac, when he fell off the load at the heels of his horses the wheels of the wagon passing over him, breaking his neck and causing instantaneous death. MR. GENAW had lived on his farm near Algonac with his large family for many years and was well known in this place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jackson Daily Citizen Thursday, 10 December, 1903 Algonac, Dec. 10 - JOSEPH GENAW, an old and respected resident of this vicinity, met his death yesterday morn- ing by being crushed under the wheels of his own wagon. He was driving into Algonac with a load of furniture when in some way he slipped from his seat and fell under the horses' heels. He was unable to get out of the way of the wheels which passed over him, breaking his neck and causing instant death. MR. GENAW, who lived on a farm west of this place, was 70 years of age and leaves a family of six, five daughters and one son, all of whom are grown up. The body was brought here and taken to Undertaker Moore's rooms. ===============================================================================
