         After an illness of several weeks, DR. JOHN H. DANCEY,
       of Capac, died last night. The end came peacefully and
       was not unexpected. His only son, HEWITT, was at his
       bedside. Since he was stricken by paralysis, superin-
       duced by heart and kidney trouble, attending physicians
       held little hope for DR. DANCEY's recovery. Although
       realizing his own condition, he bore his suffering with
       a smile and was cheeful until the end.
       
         With the passing of DR. DANCEY, death ended a life of
       splendid endeavor in home, business, professional, poli-
       tical and social circles. As a professional man, DR.
       DANCEY was ranged among leading physicians of the county.
       
         Until ill health forced his resignation, he was examin-
       ing surgeon of Draft Board No. 2. He was health officer
       of Capac as well as health officer of Mussey township,
       two positions which he had held for years.
       
         Politically, DR. DANCEY was a power in republican cir-
       cles not only in Mussey township but in St. Clair county
       as well. He played politics for the pure love of the game,
       yet in all of the campaigns in which he was one of the
       guiding spirits, he sanctioned or permitted no move that
       was not fair or clean. DR. DANCEY's political enemies were
       few for he was of the type who made no enemies but his
       friends were legion, and they bestowed upon him all of
       honors due a big hearted, sympathetic but gentle voiced
       leader.
       
         Held Many Offices
         At the time of death DR. DANCEY was chairman of the
       Mussey township republican committee. He was also a mem-
       ber of the county board of auditors. He was mayor of
       Capac for three different terms and at one time a member
       of the board of supervisors.
       
         DR. DANCEY was a member of the Capac Masonic lodge and
       the funeral will be held from the late residence Sunday
       afternoon at 2 o'clock under the auspices of that order.
       He was also a director of the First National Bank of
       Capac.
       
         DR. DANCEY was born at Alymer, Ont., in 1872, and came
       to Capac 23 years ago. He was a graduate of the Toronto
       College of Medicine.
       
         He is survived by four brothers and one son. MRS.
       DANCEY died two years ago.

         DR. JOHN H. DANCEY, who passed away at his home at Capac,
       Thursday night, was one of St. Clair county's finest citi-
       zens. As a member of his profession, he was beloved by all
       who knew him and his death was due, in no small measure, to
       the fact that he sacrificed himself time and time again to
       save others from pain and disease.
       
         DR. DANCEY always took a broad interest in the affairs of
       the community in which he lived and naturally became promi-
       nently identified with the politics of his county. He held
       himself at the call of the people and it was always his ear-
       nest endeavor to serve them conscientiously.
       
         He would not permit failing health to interfere with his
       desire to render unselfish service and when asked to act on
       the draft board, he responded as usual and undertook the
       difficult work in connection with his many other duties. It
       was too much for him and he broke down under the strain.
       
         The passing of DR. DANCEY cuts short the career of one who
       endeared himself to the hearts of those who knew him and who
       will be sadly missed, not only in his home town, but in every
       part of this county as well.

         County Honors DR. DANCEY
         The flag on the court house is at half-mast today in tribute
       to the late DR. JOHN H. DANCEY of Capac, a member of the board
       of auditors.
