Many people heard the boy call for aid, but were of the opinion that he was shamming. GEORGE E. PARKER, the Tenth street grocer, who re- covered the body, this forenoon said to The Times: "Between 4 and 5 o'clock a number of boys took a boat and rowed out into the lake to bathe. They crossed the channel 300 feet from shore and upset their boat in shallow water. One boy was left in charge of the boat and the others started to wade ashore, young BOSHAW being among the number. When the channel was reached the BOSHAW boy began to call for help. Many bathers who heard him believed he was fooling. WILL HARDER, who was at a cottage above the scene, made up his mind that the boy was in trouble. He ran down the beach, throwing off his clothing and shoes. He plunged into the water, but young BOSHAW sank before he could reach him. HARDER dived repeatedly but could not recover the body. I jumped into a row boat and pushing out to the channel saw the body on the bot- tom of the lake in 10 feet of water. I reached down with an oar and caught the body under the left arm, pulling it to the surface and taking it ashore. Every effort at recusitation was made, but life was extinct. DR. SPENCER was called, but was unable to render any assistance. The remains were taken in charge by Undertaker THOMPSON." RANSOM HOLLAND this forenoon said: "Young BOSHAW drowned right before a large number of people. No effort was made to save him by the bathers. It is the custom of boys to go out into the lake and call for help and for this reason no attention was paid to the boy's cries. WILL HARDER worked hard to save the boy, but no one was able to tell exactly where he went down. Hereafter when I hear a boy calling for help I will go to the rescue, fooling or no fooling." The funeral will be held from St. Stephen's church at 8 o'clock Friday morning. ===============================================================================
