SHIRKEY BROKE FURNITURE IN HOME FAIR HAVEN MAN IS NOW UNDER ARREST That his son, WILLIAM SHIRKEY, aged 21 years, had threatened to kill the members of the family, was complaint made to Prosecuting Attorney ALEX. MOORE by JAMES SHIRKEY, an old resident of Fair Haven. A warrant was issued for the son, who was arrested by Deputy CONGER late Friday evening, and he will be arraigned this afternoon. The elder SHIRKEY is 72 years of age. He is very feeble and could hardly walk to the jail this morn- ing to make the complaint against his son. He cried when he told of the actions of the boy, who, he said he had tried his best to bring up a good man. The trouble occurred at the SHIRKEY home Friday evening. The son returned and after entering the house broke all of the furniture he could lay his hands on. The members of the family were compelled to hide in a closet until the young man had been taken away by the officer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Daily Herald Wednesday, 25 September, 1907 WILLIAM SHIRKEY was held to $500 bail to keep the peace at his home at Fairhaven. The latter was arrested for breaking the furniture in his home and driving the members of his family from the house. ===============================================================================
