A call was sent to pol- ice headquarters that WANN was raising a rough house at his home, 925 Pine Grove avenue. When Captain KERWIN arrived WANN had succeeded in making kindling wood of the dining-room furniture, it is said, and was trying his skill at marksmanship by hurling plates at the clock to see if he could knock its hands off. WANN, being in his home, was not taken into custody, but when he appeared on the street later in a belligerent attitude he was taken into custody. While Captain KER- WIN was walking along the street with WANN the latter made a viscious swing at KERWIN and struck him a heavy blow on the side of the head. KERWIN was not expecting the attack but the fight was soon taken out of WANN. The prisoner has been under arrest several times before, and it is alleged that he has abused his family on numerous occasions, the police having been called to the home to restore order. When WANN was arraigned in police court this morning he stated that he would take the pledge and reform for a year if given a chance. His wife interceded for him and Judge BLACK released the man with the under- standing that he remain sober for a year and take care of his family. ==========================================================================
