         CHRIS KERN, proprietor of Union Brewery, is a native of 
       Wurtemberg, Germany, and was born November 7, 1848. He emi-
       grated to this country in 1867, and cameto Port Huron in 
       1870. and engaged in the brewing business in 1879. He built 
       his new brewery in 1882. It has a capacity of from two to 
       four thousand barrels. In 1879. he married Miss MARY MESLEY, 
       a native, of Wurtemberg, Germany. They have two children -
       OTTO and TILLIE.
