LEONARD of this place died Wednesday at 1 o'clock, after an illness of three years, caused by paralysis. He was born in Salem, Washtenaw county, April 16, 1841. His father died in 1845 and thereafter the lad lived with an uncle. At 18 he began to take contracts for carpenter work and built his first barn very successfully. During the latter part of the year he enlisted with the Tenth Michigan cavalry, and during his service in the army at one time suffered all the horrors of the smallpox pest house. MR. LEONARD was married to ELIZA *. STORES, daughter of HARVEY STORES of Venice, in Owosso, May 25, 1867. After the war he worked at his former trade, living in Vernon until 1870 when he moved to the farm in Venice where he lived until 1909, with the exception of about three years which he spent in Flint. In 1909 he sold his farm and bought the home in Vernon, where he lived until his death. MR. LEONARD had been a member of Corunna lodge, F. & A. M., since 1869. He was also a member of Maccabee Tent, No. 381, of Lennon and the Gleaners of Lennon. He leaves a widow, one brother, WILLIAM LEONARD, of Corunna, and one son, HUGH LEONARD of this place. The funeral will be held at 10:30 today in the Methodist church, conducted by REV. CURTS.
