It seems that the tug Coleman was passing down the river, having in tow several lighters loaded with lumber. As they passed the lighter Cass, of which SELYE was captain, a line was thrown from the rear lighter of the tow to the Cass, SELYE wishing to be towed down the river. The line thrown was caught by SELYE, and he ran forward to make it fast, when the rope caught in a board and he was thereby precipitated into the river. It was four or five minutes before the man at the stern missed SELYE, and then he had sank out of sight. Whether his body was recovered we are not advised. SELYE was a young man of about twenty-four years of age, was unmarried, and resided with his parents in this city. ===============================================================================
