         CARL D. BRADLEY
           DIES AT AGE 64
           
         Ship Owner of Rogers City Succumbs
           to Heart Disease
           
         CARL D. BRADLEY, 64 years old, president of the Michigan
       Limestone & Chemical company, and the BRADLEY Transportation
       company, of Rogers City, Mich., died at Pasadena, Cal., Mon-
       day night, following a brief illness. Death was caused by
       heart disease, according to word received by friends here.
       
         MR. BRADLEY was spending the winter in southern California
       with his wife. MRS. BRADLEY also was seriously ill at the
       time of her husband's death.
       
         Born in Chicago, he was for many years engaged in the
       foundry business there before coming to Rogers City in March,
       1912. He then founded the Michigan Limestone & Chemical com-
       pany and soon afterwards the BRADLEY Transportation company.
       
         MR. BRADLEY is credited with the invention and development
       of the self-unloading type of Great Lakes ore-carrying steam-
       ship. His own company operates six of these giant vessels out
       of the port of Calcite, Mich.
       
         He was president of the Presque Isle, Mich., Savings bank,
       and also of the Presque Isle school board.
       
         MR. BRADLEY had a wide acquaintance in Detroit and he was
       a non-resident member of the Detroit club and the Detroit
       Athletic club. He also was an active member of the Engineers'
       club of New York and of the Coal and Iron Institute.
       
         Surviving him are his wife, MRS. EMMA HEMPHILL BRADLEY, and
       two sons, BALLARD BRADLEY of Chicago and F. V. N. BRADLEY of
       Rogers City.
       
         Both sons are en route to Pasadena and are expected to ar-
       rive there today. Funeral arrangements will be announced 
       following their arrival.

         BRADLEY - Funeral services for CARL D. BRADLEY, of Rogers
       City, who died a few days ago at Pasadena, Calif., will be
       held Monday at Graceland Chapel, Chicago. MRS. BRADLEY re-
       mained in Pasadena on account of illness. MR. BRADLEY had
       numerous friends and business acquaintances in Bay City.
