WOODBURY, ESQ., of our village, recently. MR. W. and his lady were in attendance at the Republican Convention, at Chicago, and while there, their little daughter JENNIE, aged 2 years and 8 months, who accompanied them, was taken suddenly and severely ill with the scarlet fever, which terminated fatally in a few hours. Her remains were brought back on the steamer Comet, and were met by a large concourse of citizens at the wharf, who accom- panied the grief stricken parents to their residence with every demonstration of sorrow and sympathy. The funeral took place on the same day, at MR. W's residence, at which Rev'ds. Anderson and Cooper officiated. JENNIE was a sweet little girl, of loving and endear- ing mold of mind and disposition, and seemed with child- ish artlessness to love everybody and to be beloved by everybody in turn. But now, we believe she is permitted to live in a higher sphere; and the little rose-bud that was just expanding in an earthly garden, has only been transplanted, to bloom more perfectly, more beautifully, in the garden of Paradise, and to be hereafter a bright jewel in the crown of her doting parents, when, like her, they shall fall into that sleep that knows no waking save in Heaven. ===============================================================================
