TEUNIS On Bomber, Killed By Staff Correspondent Spring Lake, July 28 - S/Sgt. WILLIAM TEUNIS, JR., 20 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. WILLIAM TEUNIS of Spring Lake township, was killed in action in a bomb- ing raid over Austria May 24, the war department in- formed the parents Wednesday. He had previously been declared missing. The information was obtained from Germans through the Red Cross. He was an aerial engineer on a U.S. bomber and the last letter received from him by his mother was dated May 23. Another letter written May 13 said he had arrived overseas in Italy in April and had completed two bombing missions. He was inducted Feb. 1, 1943, and trained with the air force in Florida, at Keesler field, Miss., Har- lingen, Tex., Fresno, Calif., and Tonapah, Nev. He was born in Spring Lake township and was graduated from Grand Haven High school. He worked at Keller Tool works in Grand Haven. Survivors are the parents, five sisters, Mrs. LOUISE KRAMER of Muskegon, Mrs. JOHN HUIZENGA of Spring Lake, Mrs. ELLIS SCHWEITZER of Spring Lake, HARRIET and CLARA at home, and three brothers, GEORGE of Spring Lake township and DON and GORDON at home. ===========================================================================
