FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1871 VOLUME I, NUMBER 49 Fatal Accident. --------------- On Monday last, at about 9 A.M., Gabriel Waggoner, of Weare, was fatally injured while engaged in felling trees. The tree on which he was cutting fell on a smaller one and bent it over. He carelessly struck it with his axe, when it flew back and hit him with great force in the abdomen. He was taken to the house of D. H. Weaver, where he remained until his death, which occurred on Tuesday night, at about 11 o'clock. Mr. Waggoner was a mulatto, and had resided in this county but a comparatively short time. It is reported that he owns some property in both Iowa and Wisconsin, but nothing definite in this respect is yet known. He is said to have relatives living near Nashville, Tenn. ===========================================================================
