B. MINSHALL, of Pentwater, who together with her three children were murdered by her husband, was a native of this county. She was born in the township of Bedford, six miles north- west from this city, and was the daughter of STANLEY MECHEM, one of the pioneers of the county. Mrs. MINSHALL'S maiden name was EVA MECHEM. She graduated from the Battle Creek high school and afterwards taught in our schools. She had a young lady friend, a Miss WILLIAMS, who went to Colorado. At Miss WILLIAMS' house young MINSHALL saw Miss MECHEM'S photograph, and being struck with admira- tion, succeeded in getting up a correspondence that re- sulted in their engagement and subsequent marriage. MIN- SHALL was a queer fellow, with a hasty temper. For a time after their marriage they separated and lived apart for some time, when they went to living together again. Her father is now living in Fennville with his now only child, his son GEORGE. Lawyer GEORGE W. MECHEM, of this city, and Prof. FLOYD MECHEM, of the state university are cou- sins of Mrs. MINSHALL. Mrs. MINSHALL was a lovely woman and was such a good person that her friend often said of her that she could no more do anything wrong if she wanted to. She has many friends in this city and Bedford. --------------------------------------------------------- Trancriber's Note: The tombstone found in Pentwater township cemtery has the following incription: EVA MECHAM MINSHALL 1856 - 1897 HER CHILDREN RUBY, AGE 16, GEORGE, AGE 3, FRANK, AGE 2 It's obvious the death date is wrong ===========================================================================
