FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 1873 VOLUME II, NUMBER 103. OBITUARY. MRS. W. M. CHURCHILL On Christmas day the people of Shelby were called upon to pay their last tribute of respect to the mortal remains of of LUSADA CHURCHILL, wife of W. H. CHURCHILL, who departed this life on the 23d day of Dec. She had been sick for some time, yet not so low as to occasion serious alarm in the minds of her friends. During the last few days of her life, she failed so rapidly as not to leave the least hope for her recovery. Her amiable disposition had secured for her the friendship of all who had the pleasure of forming her acquaintance during the few years that she re- sided here. She formerly dwelt in Alexander, New York, where her father and mother still live. Owing to the storm her rela- tives could not arrive in time to see her buried. She leaves her husband and two little children to mourn her early departure. A large concourse of people assembled at the school-house where the funeral services were conducted by Elder St. Clair. We never saw such feeling manifested on any similar occasion. All mourn the loss of a dear sister. She died happy in Christ near the close of her 29th year. May her many friends meet her on that happy shore to which she has repaired at the bid- ding of her master. ------------------------------------------------------------ It is with deep regret, yet with a feeling of sincere and heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved friends, that we chronicle the death of MRS. CHURCHILL. Four years ago she came among us a happy bride; now we have been called upon as a community to pay the last tribute of respect that the living can render the dead. She leaves a kind husband and two little sons, besides a large circle of relatives and friends, among whom she was high- ly esteemed, to mourn her loss. But in the midst of this af- fliction we can but remember that the Holy Scriptures hath declared "To die is gain." Her heart has ceased its pulsations, and her eyes are forever closed upon this vale of tears. No more struggling in the turmoils of a busy, bustling world, and we trust she has gone where the weary are forever at rest. ==========================================================================
