              JOSEPH CHARLAND, for many years a resident of Pentwater,
            residing across the little lake at Frenchtown, died at the
            home of his son, FRANK, at Cedar Springs, Mich., Sunday,
            December 1st, of cancer of the stomach.
              MR. CHARLAND was born at Montreal, Canada, and was 63
            years of age at the time of his death. His wife died here
            some 13 years ago, since which time he has lived with his
            children. He was survived by two sons and two daughters,
            all of whom were present at the funeral, which was solemn-
            ized at the Catholic church, Tuesday morning, Rev. Fr.
            Emerick officiating, and the remains were laid to rest
            beside his wife in Pentwater cemetery. The children of
            the deceased wish to express their appreciation to the
            Pentwater friends for their sympathy and kindness.
