He left his home on Thursday, the 14th, to go to the town of Weare to pay a debt, and has not since been heard of. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Jackson Weekly Citizen Tuesday, 24 May, 1870 BATES FISHER, a farmer residing near Pentwater, mysteriously disappeared some weeks ago, and has not been heard of since. His friends think he has been murdered. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Berrien County Record Thursday, 9 June, 1870 On Thursday, April 21st, three weeks ago, MR. BATES FISHER, a highly respectable farmer, living near Pentwater, in this state, suddenly disappeared under circumstances which lead to the belief that he has been foully dealt with. At that time MR. FISHER, who is the brother of the wife of COL. L. F. HALE, of this city, started to go to a neighbors some miles distant to pay a certain sum of money he was owing him, since which time nothing has been seen or heard of him by his friends. - Coldwater Republican. ===========================================================================
