MISS MAMIE BOUTON HER NAME Wedding Will Occur Wednesay, April 21, Courtship Rather Romantic. Dr. C. N. SOWERS and Miss MAMIE BOUTON will be married Wednesday, April 21, at Pentwater, the home of Miss BOUTON, the ceremony to occur at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Bailey. Dr. SOWERS, accompanied by his aunt, Mrs. F. M. SOWERS, left this morning over the West Michi- gan. They will visit friends in Hart until April 21, the day of the doctor's marriage, when they will leave for Pentwater. The wedding will be solemnized at the residence of Mrs. L. N. BOUTON, mother of the bride to be. The doctor and his wife will return to Benton Harbor Saturday, April 24, and will board during the summer at the Hotel Higbee. The acquaintance between the doctor and Miss BOUTON, which, as announced, is to terminate in such a happy manner, had its beginning in the year 1886 when the former entered upon his duties as commissioner of schools of Oceana county, Miss BOUTON being a bashful, retiring and unassuming school girl. The doctor continued to hold the of- fice of commissioner until 1889. Miss BOUTON advanced in her studies, was gradu- ated and became an instructor in the Pentwater schools. The doctor was interested in Miss BOUTON as a pupil. He was more interested in her as a teacher and a courtship sprang up which was fostered with fidelity and continued to endure after Dr. SOWERS had been succeeded by another school com- missioner and had taken up a course of study in the state university. The doctor graduated and a year or so later came to Benton Harbor. He remained faithful to his Pent- water sweetheart. He made friends here, built up a large practice and enjoys the confidence which all ambitious and competent men are entitled to. Miss BOUTON continued to be an instructor in the Pentwater public schools until the death of her father in 1895, who was traveling salesman for Sands & Maxwell, millionaire furniture manufactures. By the urgent solicitation of her father's employ- ers she was induced to accept the position of travel- ing saleslady for Sands & Maxwell. She continued in their employ for a year and was equally as success- ful as her father. She resigned her position at the close of a year much against the wishes of the firm. This is the life of the woman whom Dr. SOWERS will make his wife. ===========================================================================
