On the night of the 17th, at about eight o'clock, fire was discovered by the watchman belonging to Sammons & Fox's mill, in the upper part of the mill, but it broke out so quick that he had only time to get out of the mill without being burned. It being a very windy night, caused the fire to spread all over the mill in a very few moments, and from this to the dry shed, cooper shop and smith shop, then into the staves and slabs, cleaning the whole beach to the water's edge. I believe the property is in- sured for about its full value or nearly so. It is not only a loss to the owners of the mill, but to the entire community, as it was both a saw, shingle, stave and planing mill. It is to be hoped that the owners will get their insurance, or a new mill built, but the latter would suit the community best. ===========================================================================
