The fire, which was discovered by MRS. PELLAR, seemed to have started between the floors in a portion of the upstairs and quickly spread to all parts of the upper story. ROBERT PELLAR, son of Mr. and Mrs. PELLAR, who is a senior in Ludington high school, drove a mile to the nearest telephone to call Weare fire department. The department, housed in Hart, made a record run arriving in less than 15 minutes from the time ROBERT left home. In spite of near zero temperature, deep snow and frozen hose nozzles, the township truck, the Hart township truck and water tank truck, later assisted by Pentwater fire truck succeeded in controlling the fire for a length of time, during which the major part of down- stairs furnishings were removed from the burn- ing building. Much help was given by neighbors who were summoned to assist at the fire by Mrs. HARRY RAYMOND. Extra water was obtained from a storage tank in the barn on the ALVIN GROVER farm. The loss, estimated at more than $10,000 was partially covered by insurance. With wind in favorable direction the corncrib, large barn and other buildings were saved. Mr. and Mrs. PELLAR are employed in Ludington. Mrs. PELLAR was preparing to leave this morn- ing for Mayo Brothers clinic in Rochester, Minn. Her packed suitcase was among effects saved from the blaze. Hot coffee was served the firemen at the GROVER, RAYMOND and J. M. BIRDSALL homes. ==========================================================================
