           CHARLES R. WHITTINGTON was born in the Isle of Wight, England,
	 January 12, 1835. Settled at Port Huron, Mich., in 1845, and in
	 Pentwater in 1859, engaging in the grocery business. In 1871 he
         changed his business to furniture, sewing machines and undertaker's
         goods. Married September 27, 1856. Three children - CHARLES H.,
         IDA MAY and DELLA.
