         E. W. HODGES was born in Worcester County, Mass., August
       18, 1836. Early learned the trade of carpenter and joiner.
       Settled at Pentwater in 1865; followed his trade, being
       builder and contractor. Has been identified in village af-
       fairs by being commissioner, first assistant chief of fire
       department, and on the village board four years. Narried,
       July, 1861, MARY A. CARR, who was born in Dubuque, Iowa.
       Four children.
