         Killed by Lightning
         
         Newaygo, Mich., September 8. - During a
       very heavy thunder storm here last evening
       the house of JOSEPH SMITH, a farmer living
       about three miles west of this place on 
       the Muskegon road, was struck by lightning.
       The family were sitting at the supper table
       at the time, and a son, JOSEPH SMITH, JR.,
       was killed instantly. The mother was shocked
       considerably, but soon recovered. The house
       caught fire, but was easily extinguished.
       The young man was 27 years of age and un-
       married.
