         White Cloud, Mich., July 22. - 
         Brooding over the death of his son, 
       CHARLES H. NEWELL, who lived half a mile
       north of here, went to the barn and blew
       his head off with a shotgun, while his
       wife stood in the road screaming for
       neighbors to come to her assistance and
       disarm her husband. He was 76 years old.
