         Fremont, Sept. 21 (AP) -
         Pvt. HOWARD DETERS, 20, was one of the 25
        persons killed Monday in an army transport
        plane crash at Laurinburg, N.C. Private
        DETERS' parents, Mr. and Mrs. HERMAN DETERS
        of Reeman, were notified of their son's death
        today.
          Private DETERS telephoned his mother on
        Sunday that he was coming home Monday for
        his first furlough since joining the army
        last December. He was with the United States
        army air corps.
