Traverse City, Mich., December 13. - MAY PIERCE, a White Cloud young woman, this afternoon asked Sheriff JOHNSON if she could use the telephone booth at the court house. He told her she could as soon as he answered a long distance call. The girl, waiting, stood so that he could plainly see her. To his sur- prise the long distance call was from a White Cloud woman who alleged that Miss PIERCE had taken her blue silk skirt, and who wanted her arrested. As the description came over the wire, the sheriff compared it with Miss PIERCE and at its conclusion, as it fitted perfectly, charged the girl with theft. Miss PIERCE said the woman was her cousin and had given her the skirt, which she still had on, but she promised to send it back. ===========================================================================
