T. KINNEY, amongst the property burned were thirteen small cottages occupied by employes of the mill. These people lost all their household effects, and in conse- quence their prospects with winter's near approach were not in the least brilliant. But the present week MR. KINNEY prepared a surprise for them, presented each one with a deed for twenty acres of improved farming land in the vicinity, and as soon as the mill is rebuilt will give each one suffi- cient lumber to build substantial homes upon the land. - Grand Rapids Eagle. ===============================================================================
