Killed by bullet wounds in the head and chest was Mrs. ETHEL TOZER, 62. Her brother, DARRELL REED, 42, who lived a half-mile away, was in Gerber Memorial Hospital at Fremont with three bullet wounds in the chest. DAVID TOZER, 63, who reported the shootings to the State Police Post at Newaygo, first claimed he came home and found his wife and brother-in-law shot. After two hours of questioning by State Police and Newaygo County Prosecutor JOHN SHEPHERD, TOZER confessed. SHEPHERD said TOZER refused to give a motive. He said they got the confession after telling TOZER that REED, from his hospital bed, identified TOZER as his assailant. TOZER was held in the county jail at White Cloud. ==========================================================================
