He had been beaten to death. A neighbor, RAYMOND FRANTZ, found the body and notified Sheriff W. C. BIRD. Sheriff BIRD said that blood stains found in the yard and about the house indicated ERNENPUTCH was killed out doors and his body carried to the bedroom. ERNENPUTCH was described by the neighbors as "very religious" and a regular church attendant for the past four years. Six years ago, they said, he served a sentence in Ionia reformatory for a liquor law violation but since then had nothing to do with the liquor business. =========================================================================
