Read, physician and surgeon, Woodville, was born in Kane Co., Ill., July 22, 1859. He is a son of Charles and Adaline (Baxter) Read, the former a native of New Brunswick, the latter of Vermont. He attended the common schools until the age of 14 years, when he was sent to the High School at Aurora, Ill., where he was a pupil four years, after which he spent a year in study under the direction of the principal of the school at Blackberry, Kane Co., Ill. He was then 20 years old, and began his preparatory medical reading with Dr. O. L. Pelton, at Blackberry, where he remained one year, going thence to the University at Ann Arbor, Mich. He studied there one year and during 1881 practiced under Dr. W. A. Hendryx, of Big Rapids. The year next succeeding he attended Rush Medical College, in Chicago. On the first of March, 1883, he came to his present location, where he has since been engaged in the practice of medicine. ===========================================================================
