He is the son of Mads and Christina (Swartz) Peterson, also natives of Denmark. In his native country Mr. Peterson was a member of the farming community, to which his parents belonged, and when he was 20 years old he came to the United States and settled at Big Rapids, in 1870. In 1876 he came to Woodville and established himself in the drug trade, which he has since prosecuted. He is a Republican, and was appointed Postmaster in 1878. In 1873 he was married to Christina Benson, by whom he has three children.--Maggie, Peter and Mabel. ========================================================================== ==========================================================================
