He came to America in 1864 and went directly to Illinois, where he lived two and a half years engaged in farming, then came to Muskegon, Michigan and worked in mills and on the railroad till the fall of 1876. He then came to Newaygo County and purchased 120 acres of land, to which he has since added 40 more, and now has about 50 acres under tillage. He was married in Sweden, Dec. 31, 1859, to Ida Peterson a native of that country. They have had nine children, seven of whom are living: Peter M., Charles J., Otto A., Ida D., Jennie O., Hilma M. and Emily E. In politics he is a Republican. ===========================================================================
