GREEN, aged 22, of this city, who was accidentally shot while deer hunting in the big north woods Saturday. GREEN is the son of Mr. and Mrs. HENRY GREEN, 76 Plano avenue. The new of the terrible incident was brought to this city today, with the body of the young Muskegon man, by his father HENRY GREEN who was with his son in their hunt for big game. Mistaken for Dee GREEN was accidentally shot through the side with a rifle by EMIL BURKE of Marquette, another deer hunter, who explained the accident Saturday by stating that he mistook GREEN'S body for a deer. The shot was deadly and true as the bullet passed completely through the body of young GREEN after entering his side. HENRY GREEN and his son left Muskegon Tuesday for the north and arrived at Marquette Wednesday evening. At Marquette the GREENS picked up two more hunters and the tramp was started for the northern camps. Arriving at Yellow Dog camp, No. 6, on Friday evening, the hunters rested and started out Saturday morning early. But a short distance from the camp a big buck passed the party, but none of the members were able to get a shot at the animal. HENRY GREEN sent out the three men he was with, among whom was his son, towards the foothills in order to drive back the big buck. About the same time BURKE, who was also hunting near the run- way in which the men were walking, saw the buck pass. He was ready for a shot at the animal at any minutes. After the men had made a circuit and gotten the deer in be- tween them and GREEN, the chase was started back towards the camp. In the chase, the trial (sic) crossed the runway and young GREEN stepped just to the edge of the path, when BURKE saw what he believed to be a deer ahead of him. His shot went true and GREEN fell to the ground badly wounded. No medical aid could be secured at the camps but BURKE secured a horse and wagon and with furious haste the party drove towards Big Bay. About five miles from Big Bay the horse dropped dead from exhaustion and MR. GREEN started on foot for the village. Here a doctor and an automobile were secured and after receiving first aid the injured man was rushed to Marquette. Dies in Automobile But a short time before the arrival in Marquette, young GREEN died in the automobile. GREEN leaves besides his parents two brothers, ERWIN and HENRY and two sisters, MARGARET and OLEVA of this city. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence. Rev. Archibald Hadden, pastor of the First Congregational church, will officiate and burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Young GREEN was employed at the Linderman Manufacturing company as a toolmaker. ===============================================================================
