Saturday, 26 December 1874

         CHARLES H. PITTS, a well-known farmer living a
       few miles west of Monroe, was found, the other
       evening, suspended by the neck to a beam in the
       barn, having apparently been dead about an hour.
       No explanation is given for the rash act.
