The cannon was a 6 pounder of iron and was an old piece taken from the British in 1812. He was a worthy man and leaves a large family in poor circumstances. Transcriber's Note: The 1860 Census Mortality Schedule, 1st Ward, Monroe, MI., recorded his name as JOHN C. GROB, age 52 years. ===========================================================================
