The L'Anse Sentinel
Saturday, August 3, 1895


              A destructive lumber yard fire occurred at
            Menominee this week. Reports state that three
            mills, fifty million feet of lumber, and thou-
            sands of cords of slabs were burned. Two lives
            were also lost. The destruction to property is
            placed at over $1,000,000.
