La Douceur, dealer in clothing and men's furnishing goods at Big Rapids, was born Sept. 27, 1857, at St. Eugene, East Oxbury Co., Pr. of Ontario, Can. Until he was ten years old, his parents resided on a farm, and then removed to Van Kleek Hill, in the same county, where he was a student at school two years; becoming an assistant in a store in 1869. In 1873 he came to Big Rapids, and went to work in the lumber region, and in 1877 obtained a position in the store of F.W. Joslin, where he was a clerk three years. In June, 1880, he formed a partnership with W.A. Aylesworth, and opened his present line of business. The stock of Messrs. La Douceur & Aylesworth is estimated at $8,000.00, and includes full and complete lines of ready-made clothing, furnishing goods, hats, caps, trunks, valises, etc. Their yearly business aggregates about $30,000. ===========================================================================
