Heald, farmer, sec. 2, Millbrook Tp., was born inb Oswego Co., N. Y., May 27, 1853. He is a son of William and Rosetta (Fitzch) Heald, of New York and of English descent. The family removed to Van Buren Co., Mich., in 1858, where Mr. Heald assisted his father on a farm until the autumn of 1863, when another remove was made to Ionia County, the father and son operating there as Page 324: lumbermen two years. In the fall of 1865 they came to Millbrook, settled on sec. 2, and started the first grocery in the township, managing farming interests in connection therewith. The grocery business was finally suspended. Mr. Heald was married May 27, 1880, in Wheatland Tp., to Maggie, daughter of David and Agnes (Smith) Ruxton, who was born in Huron Co., Can., July 2, 1863; her parents were also natives of Canada. When she was 12 years old she came to Michigan with an elder sister. Mr. and Mrs. Heald have one child, Alfred R., born Jan. 27, 1882. Mr. Heald is a Republican in politics, and owns a farm containing 40 acres of land. ===========================================================================
