COMSTOCK of Branch township was so well known and had so many friends in this city that the announcement of his death in Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids, came as a shock and as a personal sor- row to many of our leading business men. It was not known that he was seriously ill. He had trouble with his eyes, but no one supposed it was anything to cause more than the inconvenience which such afflic- tions always bring to the afflicted person. It seems however that last summer he was poisoned with poison ivy and has never recovered. He had been in Milwaukee for treatment, came home somewhat benefited and again went this time to Grand Rapids and supposed that he was being positively cured, but blood poisoning caused his death. He died on the 25 of April at three o'clock. His daughter EVA and son FRANK, from his home in this county, his daughter, BESSIE and son ALBERT, from Huntington, Ind., where ALBERT is a prosperous busi- nessman, his pastor, REV. CRIPPS and his friend and his neighbor, MR. SHOUP were present. He was buried by his children, by the side of his wife in Roanoke, Ind., the home of the family years ago. The funeral occurred on the 27th. MR. COMSTOCK was about 60 years old, had been a prominent, well-known citizen of his township, and was known and respected in this city and throughout the county. He was a member of the K.O.T.M. and carried a life benefit of $2,000. ===============================================================================
