Doctor BROWN was born in the state of Vermont, on the 27th day of March, 1795, aged 86 years this month. He came to this county in the fall of 1864, and in the spring of 1865 entered upon his homestead on the Sauble river, in the town of Grant, at this time he was near 70 years of age. At one time he had considerable practice, but of late was not able to go far from home. He well re- membered there being but four houses where the city of Rochester, N.Y. now stands. He was an old line whig, but in 1856 voted the Freesoil ticket; in 1860 he cast his vote for Lincoln; his last vote was cast in 1880, for Garfield and Arthur. He has filled the office of justice of the peace ever since he has been in the county. He has also filled the office of township treasurer, township clerk and highway commissioner of this town, always respected, and in death, regret- ted by his neighbors and friends, he leaves behind a wife and a daughter in the Sauble settlement. Old MRS. BROWN is very feeble and requires constant care and attention. She cannot survive her husband long. ===============================================================================
