              - While a blast was being fired at the South 
            Jackson Mine, near Neguanee, lately, some tim-
            bers that were supporting the roof of the mine
            were loosened, and a large quantity of rock and
            timber fell, instantly killing THOMAS SANDERCOCK.
            Four others heard the cracking of the timbers 
            and escaped with but slight injuries. SANDERCOCK
            leaves a wife and three children in England.
