WERE GOING DOWN SHAFT In the Bucket, When Sixty Sticks of Giant Powder Let Go Three miners, ADOLPH GUSTAFSON, GUST MAKKI, and FRANK KOBERG, were killed in a mine at Champion, Marquette county, Wednesday evening at 5:30 o'clock, by the premature explosion of 60 sticks of giant powder. The men were in the bucket with powder going to the bottom of the shaft, when the explosion occurred. The smoke was so thick in the shaft that it was impossible for rescuers to go down for several hours. It is supposed the victims were blown to pieces. ==========================================================================
