              CASUALTIES
              
              The roof of a chamber in the South Jackson mine at
            Negaunee, Michigan, collapsed Friday night, killing
            one miner and seriously injuring another.
            
              Thursday afternoon J. LOBBS received serious 
            injuries in the Lake Superior mine near Ishpeming.
            Friday afternoon THOMAS WALTON had his left leg
            taken off at the Winthrop mine by a fall of rock.
            The same day JOHN LANDERCOCK* was killed by a fall
            of rock at the Jackson mine and four other miners
            narrowly escaped. Saturday morning THOMAS CURTIS
            was instantly killed by a premature explosion of
            dymamite at the Cambrian mine. A mine inspector
            will be appointed.
            
            *NOTE* Another newspaper calls him Thomas Sandercock.
